HOW TO KEEP YOUR CARRERA BICYCLE ROAD WORTHY

A correct maintenance is fundamental for guaranteeing reliability, security, and the longest possible life for your bicycle.
For the changing of spare parts, and verification of eventual disorder in the functionality of the medium, you should turn to your local retailer, which is responsible for the evaluation of the status of your bike, individualizing eventual manufacturing faults, and consecutively restoring its efficiency.

1. After how long is it necessary to service my new CARRERA bicycle?
We suggest you service your bike for the first time no later than 3 months from when you bought it, but before this period, if it has undergone extreme usage (over 1000km)

2. What good tips may there be for maintaining a good condition of the frame on my CARRERA bicycle?
It is necessary that one controls carefully the surface of the frame thoroughly, making sure there aren’t any signs of damage in the inspected areas, particularly around the bottom-bracket, underneath the steerer-tube, and in proximity of the rear-dropouts. It is important that you keep your frame clean with appropriate products, that aren’t too aggressive for the surface, cleaning you bike every 15 days if you use it on an average of 2 to 3 times a week. How often you do this, also depends on environmental conditions it is used in: a high percentage of humidity, and dusty roads, require cleaning more often.

3. How can I look after the the fork on my CARRERA bicycle?
Fork maintenance is extremely important for the safety of your bike, keeping an eye that there aren’t any signs of deterioration around the neck, and dropouts. Always keep you fork clean using water based products, and if necessary lubricate the headset with specific oil or grease.

4. What ordinary maintenance should my brakes undergo on my CARRERA?
For security reasons regarding oneself and other people, you should always that your brakes work properly before riding. Always keep your brakes clean and lubed throughout their mechanical assembly, using specific oils, without oiling the braking surface, as to do so would impede braking. Make sure that the brake pads aren’t damaged, and well aligned with the rim. Check that the brake wires aren’t worn or damaged. Finally make sure that your brake levers aren’t damaged in any way, and that they work well in accordance to the callipers.

5. What can one do to check good functionality of the wheels of my CARRERA?
Considering the importance of the wheel set for the safety and stability of the cycle, and taking in account the difficulty of spotting possible dysfunctions, we suggest that periodically one takes their wheels to their local bicycle retailer to make sure that each and every wheel component is in working order: hubs, spokes, rim, inner tube, and tyre. In any case, there are some good tips for maintenance and cleaning of the wheel set. Avoid washing the hub with a direct water jet, as water could enter the internal part of the hub and oxidize mechanical parts. As for cleaning the spokes, use only water based detergents. Check with you local retailer that there aren’t any cuts on the inside of the tyre wall, thus also checking the outer tyre surface, for cuts and wear. Always remember to check the pressure of your tyres.
