Who is Davide Boifava? In the sixties Davide Boifava showed great promise in the world of Italian cycling but never had the time to athletically express his strength and skill due to a riding accident that interrupted his career. On his debut Boifava rode alongside race champions such as Gimondi, Adorni, Motta and Zilioli. He wore the yellow jersey at the Tour de L’Avenir in 1968 in front of his national team-mate Fabrizio Fabbri, and brought home his first victory in 1969 having been awarded the pink jersey at the Giro D’Italia for winning the Mirandola stage; he went on to win the Luxembourg tour, racing against characters such as Roger De Vlaeminck and Peter Post, twice wearing the blue jersey in the following cycling world championships (1969 at Zolder and 1972 at Gap). Following a terrible fall he was not able to continue his athletic career after the age of 32, but thanks to the iperceptiveness of entrepreneurs such as Angelo and Achille Prandelli, Davide became in another way an important figure in the world of cycling, when he accepted the prestigious and demanding role of director of the Inoxpran team. Since then he has been manager of teams with major talents that have obtained legendary successes: Battaglin, Bontempi, Visentini, Roche, Chiappucci, Pantani, Bartoli, Bettini and Basso. Through these people Davide Boifava found the strength to chase important goals, in life as well as in sport, with passion and persistence. Stories of reciprocal friendships, mutual esteem and sacrifice featured in his life and those of his champions. It was with Carrera (the team of brothers Domenico, Tito and Emerio Tacchella) that Davide Boifava gained his best victories; and it was with Carrera that, years later, in 1989, there arose a business development project that turned him from a team manager to a very busy entrepreneur in the cycling field: he founded Podium. Davide Boifava believes in “clean” cycling; in sport as a place where fundamental values of life are important for the building of future success; in a world where real and true friendship is at the heart of every relationship. His friendships with cycling’s key personnel have motivated him in the most difficult moments of his life and his sporting career, from Angelo Prandelli all the way to his colleague Giorgio Albani with whom he established a relationship of trust and reciprocal esteem. |
